Citizen Journalism

Mr.Owais Ahmed Tanveer Mangalwala made an interactive seminar with audience, motivated an individual to be a part of  citizen journalism being in democratic state.



An anchor and the producer of Dawn News latest show Citizen Journalist, Mr Owais Ahmed Tanveer Mangalwala visited department of mass communication of Jinnah University Of Women on 29th January as a guest speaker lecture on Citizen Journalism.

He define citizen journalism as " audience connecting through journalist". people believe what they sees so the journalist should be realistic. , show the picture of positive and negative existence in a way that his target audience could get him. Where an individual or citizen has characteristics  of sharing of experience, opinion, discoveries and expertise, he is definitely can be a part of journalist society.
About  the content of the show  Mr  mangalwala explains Dawn news gives an opportunity to the citizen as well as the members and students of mass communication who feels that anything should be highlighted and come on the screen , send them and they will show in their segment "Meri Khabar".They will later do the report on any particular issue along with that person. "This is the speciality of this show we dont disregard the opinion made by any citizen.We work out with them and givehim or her full authority to express their opinions." said Mr mangalwala.

he pitched out some basic points which citizen reporter  has to keep in mind that are:
  • be reaslistic
  • do not wait something wierd and unsual 
  • make your own opinion to explain
  • be creative 
  • donot lose interest 
  • avoid racism
  • writing style should be attractive
  • respect code of conducts and laws
  • find a adviser
  • ensure facts 
  • target audience in precise manner
 He concluded on journalist wishlist with giving a very captiovating slogan "Kaam", "Naam" phir "Daam"
